Tsukiyono Firefly Village

月夜野ホタルの里

Last updated: December 21, 2020

Magical evenings illuminated by fireflies

Fireflies light up the night in Tsukiyono, a three-minute walk from Jomo-Kogen Station, between mid-June and mid-July.

A firefly protection group works to conserve these delicate species that only live in areas with pristine water. The site now has the most fireflies in the Kanto region, and at least three varieties inhabit this area. During the viewing period, the conservation team members will point out the main areas to see fireflies.

Walk along the 1.9-kilometer promenade as these insects fly around you.
