Climb a steep peak for views over Gunma

There are several trails up Mt. Iwabitsu (802 m), which are all fairly short but steep. The easiest route is the Sawa-dori Trail, which is a 40-minute climb from Gumma-Haramachi Station. It requires the use of chains and ladders but is suitable for inexperienced climbers. The most challenging route is the Mitsuiwa Route, a 50-minute climb from the trailhead near Gobara Station.

Some remains of Iwabitsu Castle, built in the 15th century, can be seen on the mountainside.

From the top, take in views of the surrounding mountains.
