An ancient temple at the top of a mountain

Mt. Kurotaki is a 870-meter tall mountain and an ancient site of mountain worship. At its peak is Kurotakisan Fudoji Temple, whose history is believed to be around 1,300 years old. Legend says Gyoki (668–749), a Buddhist priest, carved and enshrined a statue of wrathful deity Fudo Myoo here.

The bell tower, main gate, and guesthouse are some of the temple’s highlights. In autumn, it is a beautiful place to see the foliage turn.
