Participatory dance festival that fills the streets
The streets of Kiryu come alive with throngs of dancing participants every August during the Kiryu Yagibushi Festival. Visitors are encouraged to join in as the crowds perform a traditional dance to the drums' pulsing rhythm.
Besides the main nighttime dance around a towering turret of lanterns, other attractions include processions of a portable shrine and huge floats, a costumed parade, and choreographed dance shows.
