GunMaaS is a digital platform that simplifies bus travel in Gunma, allowing for a smooth and cashless travel experience. With GunMaaS, you can purchase e-tickets and make reservations for buses that require advance booking. Store bus tickets and passes on your smartphone and discover Gunma's renowned hot spring towns, breathtaking natural landscapes, and cultural attractions
Getting started is simple with a smartphone. Open the GunMaaS website (https://g3m.jp/) on your phone and press the green button to access the main functions. If you access the site on a PC, there will be a QR code for you to scan with your smartphone to continue. Click the green button on the top right corner of the screen to access the QR code.
Once you access the site on your smartphone, there are icons for the various features. Use your smartphone browser's translation function to understand and navigate the information. Although most of the site is only in Japanese, there are 5 English bus ticket options. To purchase tickets, click the ticket icon, then scroll down to find: Ikaho Liner BUS TICKET, Kan-etsu Transportation MINAKAMI AREA PASS, Kan-etsu Transportation SHIBUKAWA-IKAHO ONSEN BUS TICKET, Kan-etsu Transportation SHIMA ONSEN BUS TICKET, and JR Bus Kanto Kusatsu Kogen Line Free Pass. To purchase tickets, you will need to register an account and a credit card, as outlined below.

JR Bus Kanto Kusatsu Kogen Line Free Pass
Route: Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station ↔ Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal
Pass Validity: 2 days
Highlights: This pass provides convenient access to Kusatsu Onsen, the renowned hot spring resort celebrated for its high-quality mineral-rich waters and the iconic Yubatake hot water field. With this pass, you can hop on and off buses between Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station and Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal as many times as you like. A child’s pass is half price.
Note: These areas are covered by the JR East Pass (Tohoku Area) and the JR East Pass (Nagano, Niigata Area), so if you are traveling with one of these passes, you do not need to purchase a JR Bus Kanto Kusatsu Kogen Line Free Pass.
Kan-etsu Transportation SHIMA ONSEN BUS TICKET
Route: Nakanojo Station ↔ Shima Onsen
Pass Validity: 2 days
Highlights: Enjoy a relaxing trip to the Shima Onsen Area, which features five hot spring districts and traditional ryokan inns, surrounded by lush nature. Visit attractions such as Nakanojo Gardens, Lake Shima, and the Shima Potholes. With this pass, you can hop on and off buses between Nakanojo Station and Shima Onsen as many times as you like. A child’s pass is half price.
Kan-etsu Transportation MINAKAMI AREA PASS
Route: Covers the Minakami area, connecting popular onsen resorts and scenic destinations.
Pass Validity: 2 days
Highlights: Explore the Minakami region, a hub for outdoor adventures and relaxing onsen. Visit attractions such as Takaragawa Onsen, Mt. Tanigawa, and Suwakyo Gorge. With this pass, you can hop on and off buses along routes between Gokan Station-Jomo-Kogen Station-Sarugakyo Onsen, between Jomo-Kogen Station-Minakami Station-Takaragawa Onsen-Yunokoya, and between Jomo-Kogen Station-Tanigawadake Joch (Tanigawadake Ropeway Station). The Hoshi Onsen area is not covered by the pass. Travelers to Hoshi Onsen must pay the additional bus fare between Sarugakyo Bus Stop and Hoshi Onsen in cash.
A child’s pass is half price. Note that only Kan-etsu Transportation buses can be used with this pass.
Ikaho Liner BUS TICKET (Reservation Required)
Route: Takasaki Station ↔ Ikaho Onsen
Highlights: This is a one-way, almost direct service for convenient travel to Ikaho Onsen, with just a few stops along the way, such as Mizusawa. The bus has extra storage for large luggage, making it a convenient option for international travelers. Ikaho Onsen is a charming hot spring town, famous for its iconic stone steps and golden-colored spring water.
Kan-etsu Transportation SHIBUKAWA-IKAHO ONSEN BUS TICKET
Route: Shibukawa Station ↔ Ikaho Onsen
Pass Validity: 2 days
Highlights: This ticket allows travel between Shibukawa Station and the famous hot spring resort of Ikaho Onsen. With this pass, you can hop on and off buses along the route as many times as you like to visit popular attractions, including Ikaho Green Bokujo and Hara Museum ARC. A child’s pass is half price.
Note that only Kan-etsu Transportation buses can be used with this pass.
After you choose the bus ticket or pass that you want, click "Proceed to purchase." You must create an account on GunMaaS and register a credit card to make payments and save your tickets. The registration process is managed through JaMid, ensuring secure handling of your account information.
1. Click the check box below the JaMid button, then click the JaMid button to sign in.
2. You can register using your email and password or sign in with your Google/Apple account.
3. To complete registration in English, scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the English language setting.
4. Register your credit card for quick and easy ticket purchases.
1. Log in to GunMaaS on your smartphone.
2. Select your desired bus pass or ticket based on your travel needs.
3. Proceed to payment using your registered credit card.
4. If you are booking the Ikaho Liner Direct Bus, note that reservations are required. Find a step-by-step guide to making a booking here. You will need to enter the number of seats required. You must complete the purchase within 30 minutes to secure the booking.
5. After completing your purchase, you will receive a confirmation email and a receipt (in Japanese). It will include the date of the original purchase, plus the ticket price.
6. Your tickets will be stored digitally in the ticket holder. Click on "My Page" at the top right of the screen (denoted by the person icon), then click the orange "Ticket Holder" button to see your current tickets and passes.
7. If you need to cancel a ticket, you must do so via the GunMaaS platform before the date of travel. Follow the steps in the screenshots to cancel your ticket. The cancel button「購入の取り消し」is indicated in the screenshot.
8. To change the date of your ticket, cancel the current ticket before your travel date and purchase a new one.
9. You will receive a cancelation confirmation email (in Japanese).
1. Open the GunMaaS site on your phone and go to your ticket holder. You can find it on the bottom left corner of the home page, indicated by a ticket icon.
2. Select the purchased ticket to display it on your smartphone, and click the purple "Ticket Display" button, as indicated.
3. When you are ready to travel, tap "Start to use it" and tap "OK," as indicated. If you buy a multi-day pass, you can see how much usage time you have left.
4. Board the bus—no need for a paper ticket.
5. Show your digital ticket to the driver or staff when you exit the bus. For the Ikaho Liner BUS TICKET, show the digital ticket to the driver when boarding.
