Scenic wetland hiking amid the mountains
The Yoshigadaira Wetlands are on the northeastern side of Mt. Kusatsu-Shirane. This scenic spot is part of Joshin’etsukogen National Park and is a popular hiking spot along National Route 292.
In summer, the wetlands bloom with cotton grass, and in autumn, they are yellow with the changing foliage of Erman’s birch trees.
The wetland is registered under the Ramsar Convention, helping to conserve the wildlife that inhabit it.
