A scenic train ride through a deep valley
The Watarase Keikoku Railway runs between Kiryu in Gunma and Nikko in Tochigi. The 44.1-kilometer-long line follows the lush Watarase Valley and provides striking riverside views over the 80-minute ride. The journey is beautiful in all seasons, but the colorful foliage in autumn is particularly impressive. The variation in altitude throughout the trip means you will see a range of colors throughout the ride.
