A spiritual cave below a Japanese garden

Explore Dokutsu Kannon, a Buddhist cave around 15 minutes walk from the Byakue Dai-Kannon statue. The cave houses 33 statues of deities and is gently lit to create a somber, spiritual atmosphere. The 400 meter-long tunnel was built around 100 years ago and took around 50 years to carve out by hand.

Next to the cave, Tokumei-en is a peaceful Japanese walking garden with seasonal foliage. In spring, it blooms with azaleas and cherries. In summer, hydrangeas emerge, and it is a beautiful place to see colorful foliage in autumn.
