Legendary backcountry and sidecountry terrain
The Tanigawadake Tenjindaira Ski Resort, sometimes simply referred to as "Tenjin," is a small resort located on Mt. Tanigawa. Ride the ropeway to the base of the ski area halfway up the mountain (1,319 m) for access to the mellow resort and sweeping views.
The resort is known for its high-quality natural snow, with no artificial snowfall machines used. It mostly caters to beginners and intermediates, but the real draw for experts is the world-class backcountry skiing opportunities. Explore trees, chutes, and bowls full of deep, high-quality powder snow. The easy ropeway access and steep terrain make Tenjin a major international backcountry and sidecountry draw. Despite the easy access, backcountry skiing can be dangerous, so be sure to hire a guide and the appropriate equipment.
Tenjin benefits from Gunma's long snow season, so visitors can usually ski from late December to mid-April.
