Centuries of history at a traditional onsen ryokan inn
Shima Tamura is a traditional-style ryokan inn and onsen resort in Shima. The inn was established in 1563, and its history is evident in the ryokan's quintessentially Japanese atmosphere. Choose from spacious Japanese-style rooms with tatami floors and futon bedding, some with a private onsen, or from a handful of rooms with Western-style beds. The large public baths are artfully decorated to blend in with the surrounding natural scenery, including the Shima River. Guests can dine on meticulously crafted multi-course meals that highlight local ingredients.
