Enjoy beautiful hikes and boating at Mt. Haruna
Mt. Haruna (1,449 m) is a dormant volcano with a large caldera. Its crater lake, at about 1,100 meters, is popular for boating and fishing.
The hike to the peak is lined with cherry trees, azaleas, daylilies, and bamboo grass along the trail. Alternatively, take the ropeway for a more accessible route to the top. Visit Harunafuji-jinja Shrine at the summit and look out over Ikaho Onsen, on the mountain's eastern slopes. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji to the south.
Mt. Haruna is considered one of Gunma’s three famous mountains for its exceptional beauty, along with Mt. Akagi and Mt. Myogi.
