Discover the sights, smells, and taste of ume
Before cherry blossom season begins, ume, Japanese plum, begins to bloom. One of the best places to take in this spectacle is Misato Ume Garden in Takasaki, where more than 100,000 ume trees grow on a hill overlooking the Kanto plain.
Their subtle fragrance fills the air when they are in bloom, which occurs throughout March. Enjoy the spectacular view of these white and pink blossoms, and wander through the ume-themed festival, where you can buy ume sweets, snacks, and drinks.
