Enjoy a walk through a forest and buildings that are designed to look like a German town
Located at the entrance to Kusatsu Onsen, this roadside station is marked by fancy buildings that are made to look like a German town. You can find general tourist information here as well as a walkway that lets you stroll through the woods.
Nearby is a museum where you can learn about the friendship between Kusatsu and Germany. The relationship began in 1876 when Dr. Erwin von Baelz, a medical doctor from Germany, took an interest in the benefits of the hot spring and introduced it to the world as a top, world-class health resort hot spring. The friendship continues to this day.
