Ancient temple with a lush flower garden
Kichijoji is a small Buddhist temple in the mountains of Kawaba founded in 1339. From spring to autumn, over 100 varieties of flowers bloom in the Kichijoji Hyakka garden. Varieties found at the temple include lotuses, irises, Japanese primrose, and monkshood. In autumn, fiery foliage keeps the grounds awash in color. Other features on the grounds include a traditional-style rock garden and a pond filled with koi fish.
