Onsen with 800 years of history featuring a new public bath
Kawarayu Onsen has a history of over 800 years. It was moved to its current location in 2014 due to the construction of the Yamba Dam. Oyu, the public bath, was also moved, and the wooden-framed indoor bath and open-air bath are overflowing with popular hot springs that are said to help with joint pain and rheumatism.
The Yukake Festival is held in front of the Oyu early in the morning each year on January 20.
