Step back in time at this elegant bathhouse
This two-story wooden bathhouse has exceptional views over Yubatake, the hot water field in the center of Kusatsu.
Experience its two onsen baths—one stone, one wood—each of which draws from a different source. The Yubatake source is rich in sulfur, which is thought to help troubled skin, while the bath fed by the Bandai source is rich in chloride sulfate, which is purported to help relieve digestive issues.
The building was carefully constructed to reflect a fusion of styles from the Edo period (1603–1868) and Meiji era (1868–1912).
