A powerful waterfall surrounded by lush forests
These impressive waterfalls in the lush Katashina Gorge are 7 meters high and 30 meters wide.
Paths alongside the falls provide up-close views of the water as it slowly cuts through the gorge and cascades downstream. Dense forests surrounding the area further adds to the drama of the waterfall. Walk along the suspension bridge to see the falls from above. For the best views, stand right next to the falls to see the water flowing into the basin.
Fukiware no Taki Falls are at their most powerful in spring as the snowmelt makes the stream swell. Autumn is another popular time to visit, when the surrounding trees turn a spectrum of fiery tones.
Various other sights pepper the trail to this forested valley, including the 15-meter-high Masutobi no Taki Falls, some unusual rock formations, and Ukishima Kannondo Temple.
