The remnants of a silkworm cold storage facility that used natural cooling
It was a cold storage facility that utilizes cold air blowing from underground through gaps between rocks. It also held the largest storage capacity in Japan as multiple rearing cycles of silkworm was enabled. (It was usually carried out only once a year until then.)
This facility, with Tomioka Silk Mill, was registered as the world heritage.
